Alternate Great War by GTD-Orion Alternate Great War by GTD-Orion
This map shows an alternate history World War I ( Great War ) scenario.

In this scenario, Russia does not participate in the partitions of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth at the end of the 18th century. Because of that, the various historical events occur slightly differently, with the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth taking the place of Russia in many events. It eventually becomes a Republic of Three Nations ( the three nations being Poland, Lithuania and Ruthenia, with all three of them having a truly equal say in governing matters ).

As a result, during the Great War, it is the Republic of Three Nations that's a part of the Triple Entente, and not Russia ( Russia itself becomes a relatively peaceful republic shortly before the Great War ).

This map shows exactly those alliances: the Triple Entente and the Triple Alliance, as they were shortly before World War 1.

Download for full view.

The flags and the filter that I used for the Republic of Three Nations flag are made by Minefield, who made an awesome filtered flag pack for the game Victoria II.

This map was made in GIMP.

Why does Galicia leave Austria?
GTD-Orion Featured By Owner Sep 14, 2013
Galicia used to belong to the Commonwealth. Austria took it from the Commonwealth during the Partitions. In this universe, however, they only gained small pieces of Galicia, and the rest remained a part of the Commonwealth.

What is happening elsewhere in the world because of this?

You mean Italy remained in the Triple Alliance during the war, in this scenario, instead of fighting against Austria? Why?
GTD-Orion Featured By Owner Sep 13, 2012
It didn't. This is before/at the start of the war.

Is Victoria 2 a good game ? I only have the demo, where you can only play as USA.
I have a question. If you play as the Austrian Empire is there a point till the Empire collapses and the world war starts or does that depend on how you play ?? Can you make colonies there ?? Or is this impossible for Austria ?

You could have asked that via Note :)

I'd say Victoria 2 is a good game, but that's just me. It has some flaws, but there are mods that eliminate them mostly. There are also alternate history mods as well. Also, an expansion pack, or something like that, is in the works.

If you play as the Austrian Empire it is relatively easy ( although it depends on your difficulty level, I suppose ) to keep the empire from collapsing. In fact, it usually exists up till even the game's end in around 1936. If the consciousness of the population keeps rising too much, and there's a lack of prestige, it can be converted to Austria-Hungary even.

It mostly depends on how you play it though. There are a lot of things to do in Victoria II, and your actions shape the world, depending on how much you participate in the events. There is no World War most of the time though, if not entirely.

You can make colonies there, as long as you have the necessary technologies and docks to do that. And it's impossible for practically everyone, as far as I know.

Still, I'd say that the game is worth getting. Especially the upcoming expansion, from what we can see so far.

On a related topic, have you played Europa Universalis III?
