Lands of the Duchy of Altherria

Description

This is a fantasy map of the Duchy of Altherria, at the year 371 of the Dark Age.

It was mostly meant to be an experiment. I wanted to make a map that had a similar appearance, to some extent, to those maps in the game 'Dragon Age: Origins', without being an actual copy of those maps. This fantasy setting is completely original though ( or at least I didn't base it on anything I know; except maybe a little on the real medieval ages world ).

Altherria is relatively small, as can be seen by the scale on the top ( the units on the scale are the equivalents of kilometers ). It's roughly the size of Belgium.

To the East and Northeast its borders end at the edges of the Kelivarran Forest ( more precisely, at the river beyond which is that said forest; the forest itself is ancient and somewhat large, so most don't go near it even ), and around Imderrivan Lowlands. In the South it's protected by Lake Basticallan, and the small strait, through which Lake Basticallan and the Adreviannic Sea are connected. All in all, the Duchy of Altherria is in a very defensible region.

Veltevvian Kingdoms and Duchies are similar to the Holy Roman Empire. The Entursvan Kingdom is very interested in "aquiring" Altherria. There have also been some raids from the Visnortillan Nation, much like the Vikings in Europe were, but they're mostly not a threat anymore, since Altherria has built up a very strong navy over time.

Very well done. I know some people, when making a new world or an area of a new world, will end up taking ideas of Earth. You show no signs of having any reference to Earth, which is pretty good!
