Renaissance Europe - 1500 by GTD-Orion Renaissance Europe - 1500 by GTD-Orion
Alternate history map again. Remade the map of the same name ( just with a slightly different date ) from my gallery to something that's, in my opinion, better.

North Italy and South Italy are just random Italian state confederations and all. And I know that Carthage existing in 1500 is weird.

I didn't make the paper texture.

You can call me nazi again... but you are Samogitian with empiricist point of view. And yeah... Vilnus was Vilno and also belongs to Belarus!

What is Crimea?

Seems I made a typo in writing Crimea on the map...

The Crimean Khanate was a state ruled by Crimean Tatars from 1441 to 1783, founded after the destruction of the Golden Horde. Currently it's just an autonomous region in Ukraine.

An excellent map, but is it accurate historically speaking? To illustrate, in Spain by 1500 the Reconquista was completed and their were no Moorish territories left on the Iberian peninsula; also, the Byzantine Empire no longer existed, as it had been completely overrun by the Ottomans.

well he did say this "Alternative history map again" in his artist comments so no, it is not accurate historically speaking.

So simply, whatever occured to make these changes in history, they occured.

Gal tu istorikas, kad ikeli visokius zemelapius?

Oh, 1500 m.

Thanks. Never seen a medieval Carthage before, plus had this interest in Carthage remaining after I made the last map, so... :)

Rant: Nooo! My precious Holy Roman Empire! It's too small!

Thanks. HRE isn't small though: just that the larger factions aren't marked under a single territory on the map :p Austria, Bohemia, Netherlands, etc. are part of the HRE.

It's rather early for Netherlands to exist as well. I think if that region was unified by some power (as opposed to rebelling from a foreign overlord, as in our world), it might have that power's name, such as Flandres or something.

Also, semi-failed (or just horribly slow) Reconquista? And very powerful Byzantium? This is really interesting :)

Thanks.

I think Netherlands existed by 1500, but were part of the HRE. And later on went under Spanish rule. Unless that was before 1500, though I doubt it. Anyway, I saw the Netherlands like this over in a history map I used for reference, just that it wasn't named on it, so couldn't tell exactly what country it was. Flanders is a part of Belgium ( which didn't exist at that time, and was a part of the Netherlands, as you most likely know ).

Powerful Byzantium is always fun :p "Better balance" for that region of Europe, in my opinion. Plus, it'd be a shame if Byzantium collapsed like it did in real life.

As for the failed/slow Reconquista, well... No reason for that one, I admit. Just that the whole Spain-Portugal region was mostly the same throughout history, and I thought that this would be a bit more interesting.
